Job description
- Lead and guide the modeling team in a fast-paced, collaborative production environment.
- Work closely with the Modeling Supervisor and other department leads (Rigging, Layout, Lookdev, Lighting) to maintain consistent visual style and production quality.
- Oversee the creation of high-quality, production-ready assets with efficient topology, clean UVs, and proper geometry flow for downstream departments.
- Review and provide feedback on team members’ work to ensure artistic and technical standards are met.
- Plan, delegate, and monitor modeling tasks to ensure timely delivery of assets according to the production schedule.
- Collaborate across departments to find creative and technical solutions for production challenges.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of workflows, tools, and best practices within the modeling pipeline.
Job requirements
- Minimum 5–6 years of professional experience in 3D modeling for animation, film, or VFX.
- Strong expertise in subdivision modeling and efficient topology for both character and hard-surface assets.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
- Solid artistic foundation with strong understanding of form, proportion, scale, and silhouette.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to faithfully translate 2D designs or reference materials into 3D assets.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support junior artists.
- Calm under pressure, organized, and committed to meeting production deadlines.
- Understanding of production pipelines and interdepartmental workflows.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Plus Points:
- Knowledge of rigging, look development, or pipeline scripting.
- Experience leading teams or mentoring artists in a production setting.
Portfolio Requirements:
- A compilation of your best 3D asset work, including beauty renders, clay renders, and wireframes → showing the modeling, texturing, and shading process.
- An online portfolio (ArtStation, personal website, etc.) with a clean and professional presentation.
