What does it mean to become a 3D Environment Lead?

  • Lead and guide the modeling team in a fast-paced, collaborative production environment.
  • Set the creative & technical standard. Review and provide feedback on team members’ work to ensure those artistic and technical standards are met.
  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, production-ready assets with efficient topology, clean UVs, and proper geometry flow.
  • Plan, delegate, and monitor your team to ensure timely delivery of tasks according to the production schedule.
  • Collaborate across departments to find creative and technical solutions for production challenges.
  • Ensure seamless workflow within and across teams/departments.
  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of workflows, tools, and team.
  • Cool under pressure, with strong communication, creative, and problem-solving skills

Job requirements

  • Minimum 5–6 years of professional experience in 3D modeling.
  • Strong expertise in subdivision modeling and efficient topology for both character and hard-surface assets.
  • Expert in ZBrush (organic + hard-surface), plus production-ready topology, UVs, and clean assets
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Maya and Substance Painter.
  • Solid artistic foundation with excellent understanding of form, proportion, scale, and silhouette.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to faithfully translate 2D designs or reference materials into 3D assets. Paint-over skills are a huge plus.
  • Understanding of production pipelines and interdepartmental workflows.
  • Basic knowledge in Lighting, and Compositing for seamless hand offs.
  • Experience leading teams or mentoring artists in a production setting is a plus.
