Job description

A Chef de Partie (CDP), or station chef, in a fine dining restaurant manages a specific section of the kitchen (such as sauces, fish, or meat). They ensure precise execution of complex dishes, maintain strict plating aesthetics, supervise junior cooks, and uphold the highest standards of culinary hygiene and food safety.


Core Responsibilities

  • Section Management: Run an assigned kitchen station independently, ensuring smooth preparation and service workflow.
  • Plating & Quality Control: Execute dishes matching exact fine dining specifications, recipes, and visual presentation standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train Commis chefs and kitchen assistants assigned to the station.
  • Inventory & Prep: Create prep lists, manage stock rotation, check expiration dates, and minimize food waste.
  • Hygiene & Safety: Maintain clean station workspaces, complying fully with HACCP and local health regulations.


Job requirements

Key Requirements


  • Culinary Qualification: Degree or diploma in culinary arts or formal professional training.
  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on kitchen experience, ideally within high-end, luxury, or fine dining environments.
  • Technical Skills: Mastery of advanced cooking methods, knife skills, flavor profiling, and ingredient identification.
  • Education: Formal culinary training, diploma in culinary arts, or equivalent degree.
  • Certifications: Valid Food Handler’s Certificate, HACCP Certificate, or ServSafe Certification.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long hours, work split shifts
