Job description
- Prepare and produce a wide variety of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and baked products.
- Develop new dessert menus and seasonal specialties in line with the company’s concept and standards.
- Ensure all pastry items are prepared consistently and presented attractively.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion standards.
- Supervise and train pastry kitchen staff to maintain productivity and performance.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards in the pastry kitchen area.
- Manage inventory, stock rotation, and ordering of pastry ingredients and supplies.
- Control food cost and minimize waste within the pastry section.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
- Assist with special events, customized cakes, and banquet dessert preparations when required.
Job requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role in a hotel, restaurant, bakery, or café.
- Strong knowledge of pastry preparation, baking techniques, dessert plating, and food presentation.
- Creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative dessert concepts.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Culinary or pastry certification/diploma is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in product quality.
- Basic knowledge of inventory and cost control is an advantage.
